The Bubble to Beantown: Krista Blevins, The Woodlands

FOTRC:  Is this your first time to run Boston?

Krista:  This will be my third year to run the Boston Marathon.  I also ran it in 2003 and 2013.  (Krista ran the 2003 edition in 3:38:42 when she and her husband, Bert, lived in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Bert ran Boston in 3:06:53 that year and then 4:21:09 the following year.)

FOTRC:  Which race did you use as your qualifying race for Monday's race?

Krista:  3:14:44, Boston Marathon, 2013.  I qualified at last year’s Boston Marathon to run it again this year.  (I obviously don’t like to run too many marathons.)

FOTRC:  What's your goal for Monday's race - time and/or experience?

Krista:  My goal on Monday is to show my support for Boston and the people that were affected by last year’s tragedy.  Last year was going to be my last marathon – until Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2015 -- but after the bombings, I decided I wanted to go back and show my support.  I’m not scared as I know it will probably be one of the safest places to be on Monday.

As a result, I just plan to take it all in and enjoy each moment – even the pain.  The result (i.e. time) being secondary.  I plan to just run how I feel that day – no goal!

FOTRC:  Anybody making the trip with you?

Krista:  It's a girls trip this year -- Nicole Schoppe, Erica Cahill, Kate Looney and Michelle McGill!  (Ed. – Somebody has to stay back and #trainlikebert.)

FOTRC:  What’s your most special past Boston Marathon memory?

Krista:  I can't really pick one special moment from Boston.  It’s all special.  I love the course, the crowd, the volunteers – they are all amazing!  I feel blessed to be able to be there this year.  It will be emotional, I’m sure.

Krista Blevins, 43, of The Woodlands is one of 44 runners registered for this year’s Boston Marathon from Montgomery County of Spring.  She is currently in the midst of training for Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs in late June just outside of Lubbock.
