The Bubble to Beantown: Angela Rizzo, The Woodlands

FOTRC:  Is this your first time to run Boston?

Angela:  No, this will be my second time to run the Boston Marathon.  I ran it in 2012 – the hot year!  It was 90 degrees at the finish!  (Ed. – Angie finished that race in 4:30:31.)

FOTRC:  Which race did you use as your qualifying race for Monday's race?

Angela:  I used the Chevron Houston Marathon as my qualifying marathon, which was my last one.  My time was 3:47:38.

FOTRC:  What's your goal for Monday's race – the time and/or the experience?

Angela:  My goal for Monday’s race is to make it to the finish line. I have battled Plantar Fasciitis my whole training, so it’s not been the best training season.

I plan on soaking up every moment.  It is going to be an emotional 26.2 miles but I am ready to show support for Boston and all those affected by last year’s terrible events.

FOTRC:  Anybody making the trip with you?

Angela:  I am going with Tina Saims, but we plan on hooking up with all the local runners from The Woodlands for dinners, which will be so much fun!

FOTRC:  What is your most special Boston memory?

Angela:  My most memorable moments from the 2012 Boston Marathon is the crowd support along the whole course.  They provided runners with everything from popsicles to wet sponges.  Oh, also the firemen at the Newton fire station that hosed down to cool us off.  Despite the heat ,it was the experience of a lifetime.

I got to know Angela Rizzo and her husband, Frank, while working with Bill and Dana-Susan Crews for a couple of years with the Remission Run.  Fun people to be around, Angela, 49, of The Woodlands, is one of 44 runners registered for this year’s Boston Marathon from Montgomery County of Spring.
