Finishing 23rd overall -- and second in his single-age group -- was former Colorado School of the Mines All-American Benjamin Zywicki, 23, who now makes his home in The Woodlands.
Originally a native of Colorado Springs, Zywicki finished in 33:27, while his wife, the former Sydney Laws, who also ran for Colorado School of the Mines, also took second in her 25-year-old single-age group as she stopped the clock in 41:45.
The Woodlands' elder statesman, Jim Braden, 76, won his single-age group in a time of 55:45 in a field of 26 runners. It was the fifth-best time of men age 76 to ever run the event. The 11-time Ironman also has the event's eighth-best time at age 73 and fourth-best at age 75.
There were nine runners from Montgomery County and Spring who finished the race including 79-year-old Charles Kinney from Montgomery.

Few runners from the area made it to either of the two large 5K races in greater Houston -- the Heights 5K Fun Run and the Impact a Hero 5K in Sugar Land -- this past Saturday.The Woodlands' Joel Barr, 59, easily won his age group in a time of 20:21 over Houston's John Polisini at the Heights 5K Fun Run.
Spring's Korey Wise, 16, was third in his division in 22:13 while 80-year-old Robert Miller of Conroe was the only finisher age 75 and over as he covered the distance in 51:31.

A host of area youth triathletes competed in either the USA Triathlon Elite Development Race or the USA Triathlon Youth F1 in Dallas on Saturday.The races were held in conjunction with the Dallas ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup.
The Woodlands' Ian Richardson and Connor Barry were the top two finishers from the area as they finished the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run course in 1:06:07 and 1:07:43, respectively.
Spring's Austin Walin and The Woodlands' Tyler and Zachary Henthorn rounded out the local field with finishing times of 1:10:55, 1:13:04 and 1:15:38.
In the Youth F1 race, where competitors covered half the distance than those in the Elite Development race, The Woodlands' Juan Restrepo was the 13th male finisher in 37:16.
Lane Barron, also of The Woodlands, was six spots back in 38:41.
Other local representation came from The Woodlands' Nicholas Minnery (40:27) and Daniela Garza (44:58).

Spring's Bob Stepp, 51, was the fastest area finisher at the Dodge Rock 'N Roll Marathon in San Diego on Sunday with a time of 3:34:38.

The Woodlands' Richard Mac Namee, 45, led all area triathletes at the 12th annual Tejas Triathlon in the New Territory subdivision of Sugar Land on Sunday.Mac Namee posted a masters division' winning time of 56 minutes and 49 seconds on the 600-yard swim, 12-mile bike and three-mile run course.
One of only seven athletes to post a better time was The Woodlands' Roberto Guiot, 36, who won his division by two minutes with a 55:42 showing -- two weeks off of an Ironman Texas performance that was the 12th best ever from Montgomery County and Spring.
Past residents of The Woodlands garnering podium spots included Jarrett Hubert (29, 1st, 57:40) and Colin Wolfe (32, 3rd, 56:04) while former Conroe Triathlete Jimmy Flemming, 73, won his age group with a time of 1:13:31.
Spring's Debra Castell, 28, won her age group by more than a minute over Kassie Harris in 1:03:24 while Montgomery's Wendi Kirkland, 30, also won hardware with a second-place finish in 1:04:39.
