Seventy-eight triathletes from Montgomery County and Spring made it to the finish line of the second annual Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas in Galveston
Many of them in a dress rehearsal for next month’s Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas
Douglas Cooper, Bob Maus and Rick Parker led the area men – all with sub-5:10 performances and all from The Woodlands, while Karen Ponette-Maldonado, Linda Trinkle and Sasja Jackson led the ladies.
Ponette-Maldonado was 7th in an extremely competitive 40-44 age group with her time of 5:12:39.
The Woodlands' Bruce Cobb, 62, was sixth in his 60-64 division with a 5:38:10 showing.

Competitors faced extremely windy conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures.
Five set of spouses completed the 70.3, including The Woodlands' Coopers - Douglas and Mary Kay, who put together the fastest combined time of 11 hours, 19 minutes and 54 seconds.
Spring's Chris Gause opened up the women's 70-74 age group by finishing her third half ironman in a year's time and qualified once again for the Foster Grant 70.3 Ironman World Championship in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. And for the second time in as many years, her daughter, Lynn Flora, of Spring, finished the 70.3 as she gears up for her second Ironman in The Woodlands next month.
Both of their husbands and Chris' daughter and Lynn's sister Leslie Watts were on hand to cheer the duo to the finish.
The Svelha sisters got into the act as well too.
The Woodlands' Mary Kerschbaum, 51, and Seattle, Washington's Kristine Svelha Brown, 42, finished in respective times of 7:13:01 and 7:40:42.
