IMTX: Maryland's Oxman Top IMTX Participant At Inaugural 5150 Event

            More than a week ago, Sunday, March 20, seven prospective Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas athletes competed in Ironman’s inaugural 5150 olympic distance event – the Miami International Triathlon -- in Miami, Florida.
            Rockville, Maryland’s Jeff Oxman, 54, posted the best time of all by covering the 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run in two hours, 13 minutes and 21 seconds.
            He finished fourth in his age group and comes to Texas in May on the strength of a 5:05:48 performance at last year’s 70.3 Eagleman. 
He hasn’t completed an iron distance race, however, since Ironman Lake Placid in 2006 where he finished in 12:13:44.
            Miami’s Jose Arevalo, 46, was 11th in a 37-deep 45-49 field in 2:20:14.
            The top female was Clearwater, Florida’s Amy Keener, 35, who was second in her age group in a time of 2:23:25 while Ankeny, Iowa’s Rachelle Little, 32, was fourth in her 11-woman 30-34 field in 2:43:42.
